Korean Air is known for providing top-notch service and meals. Even in the economy class, passengers can enjoy plenty of legroom and delicious snacks and meals. On my round trip flight, I was served either a 6-inch sub sandwich and a hot pocket, or a full-size sub sandwich as snacks, which were fresh and tasty. For meals, passengers can choose from bibimbap, American, or Chinese options. I personally recommend the bibimbap, but the other choices won't disappoint either. Additionally, on the longer flight from Korea to DFW, toothbrush, toothpaste, and slippers were provided to ensure a comfortable flight.

Las Vegas. Just saying those two words evokes images of Elvis impersonators, flamboyant showgirls and sounds like “cha –ching”. Nevada’s largest city attracts people from all over the world to book flights to Las Vegas and promises an experience like no other. The city is home to some of the wackiest themed hotels and resorts in the world, from acrobats performing in the lobby to rooms built inside a pyramid.

The first thing travellers coming off their Las Vegas flights will notice is the bright tacky neon signs that line the Strip; a distraction from what the city really has to offer. So look beyond the flashing lights and you’ll be amazed to find world-class museums, botanical gardens, Venetian canals, even a miniature version of the Eiffel Tower.

While exercise might be the last thing on people’s minds while visiting Vegas, outdoor enthusiasts might feel a little confined after spending a day in a casino. If that’s the case then the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is great for hiking or climbing, while Lake Mead provides plenty of water sports and a 550-mile shoreline.

Las Vegas climate

Nevada is in a mountain region with semi-arid grasslands, alpine forests, and deserts. Average temperatures range from the mid tens (C) in the northeast to 15 in the west and central areas and the mid-20s in the south. Summers in the northeast are short and hot; winters are long and cold. The west’s summers are also short and hot, but the winters only moderately cold. The south has long and hot summers, with the temperature frequently above 50, and short and mild winters. The humidity is usually low, which makes the higher temperatures less disagreeable. However, there’s a wide range in daily temperatures. Even in summer, the nights can be 30 to 35 degrees cooler than the daytime high.

Getting around Las Vegas

It’s easiest to get around Vegas from the Las Vegas Strip. Walking is a great way to get around Vegas, but it may not be the fastest. A monorail will take you from one end of The Strip to the other. You can start at the MGM Grand at the south end and pass The Flamingo and The Las Vegas Hilton on the way to the Sahara at the northern end. The trains run all week long, from 7am to 2am Monday through Thursday and another hour later Friday through Sunday. Some airlines and hotels offer free vouchers for the monorail. Las Vegas’ public bus system, run by Citizens Area Transit, has buses running all day and night. The Trolley runs every 15 minutes from 9:30am–1:30am every day and reaches all the major hotels on The Strip. You can catch a taxi in front of any major hotel.
