Cheap Car Rentals in Newhall / College Park, San Jose

When I picked up the car a little orientation to the car would be nice so I would know all the features and most importantly where is the gas tank door opener 😳. 😂

Arrived at airport 0650hrs but attendant would not serve til 7am on the dot. The extras fees were very confusing, I had paid $11 cdw I’m advance yet had to pay LDW on top. Good car but Inside car windscreen was dirty.

I did not appreciate the “up sell” because we were 45 min early. They said our car was not ready and we’d have to wait unless we upgraded.

We paid more for a Mustang "or similar". We ended up with a Nissan Maxima which really is not similar. Wanted a sporty vibe; got a granny vibe. The car was nice, just wasn't as advertised.

It was over an hour wait to pick up the car because Avis only had 2 counter staff.

Rented a large van, which was great. Got a brand new vehicle with less than 50 miles and it did great. Check in took a long time. Seemed to have too few people for the reservations, although there were also a few people in line who seemed confused on what they needed. So may have been walkouts that Avis was not expecting. Return area was not staffed early in the evening, so had to go by the rental counter. Thankfully, there was no line that time.

The car was showing oil pressure low. First added one jug of oil, msg disappeared, after 25km again started showing same msg, then added another jug. Again within 10km, it was showing msg until dropped off. So I spent USD26 extra, this need to refund for me

Everything was pretty great, except that it was difficult to opt for an electric car even though they seemed to be advertised at the same rate or cheaper than the ICE car I eventually rented.

My main issue is the customer service for pick-up was poor and I was overcharged. I couldn’t find the rental counter and tried to call them. No answer and this was during supposed business hours. After reaching the counter I was pressured to pre-pay for the electric charge (I had a Tesla). I declined and as I exited the garage I was asked again and I declined again. The car was fine during the rental. When I returned the vehicle I returned it with more charge than I received it with. At drop-off I was told they’d email me my receipt (I had a flight to catch). And sure enough the pre-pay was on the bill. Very disappointed that they added in charges I declined numerous times.
