The Girona budget office insisted that we have no insurance even a basic one, at that time I could't reach my reservation details and checked, so they took nearlı 150euros for car insurance which is more than 2 days rental price. At that time we couldn't be sure about the conditions. So I had to pay twice the money, I won't reserve with kayak/budget again.

The insurance pitch is tireless and frightening. Renting a car with automatic transmission in Spain is twice as expensive and it's necessary because corners are tight and Spain is mountainous with lots of curves. Drop off was on a Sunday and the office was closed. There was a key drop with a note to leave them. OK, but don't come back to me with a small scratch or dent or... I'd have preferred someone signing off that all was good.

Booked an automatic to start with, it somehow changed to manual when modifying the time. Then the Algeciras site said they didn’t have automatic car anymore even the website still shows they have. So I we ended up no car at all.

Got a new car, so no complaints there. 500 Euro drop off fee really killed the economics. No discussion of tolls in foreign countries, so that's an unknown. No Hertz employee gave me the same answer. P/U was very far from train station. D/O had to take a shuttle bus. But both ran smoothly and no lines.

Of course they did not have the size vehicle that we ordered.....they offered a substitute that was considerably smaller and held less luggage. But, fear not, they had a slightly larger vehicle available with a hefty increase in the cost (35% higher or $1000 more for the 20 day trip). Then they had the vehicle in a dark poorly lit garage and asked us to look for any damages not listed, which was very difficult being tired, jet lagged, and with the dark conditions. We were extremely careful on the entire trip and brought the vehicle back in identical condition. A week later, we received a bill for $234 for a tiny scratch under the front passenger bumper......a nice way for SIXT to extort a bonus from our rental. Needless to say, take photos of the entire vehicle before you leave, and insist that they take it outside or under extremely good lighting for your photos.....if not, do not be surprised if you also get an extra bill after your rental......

Only dislike is that they were trying all the time to sell us un upgrade. They probably didnt have the small car the we ve booked. At the end my husband chose to upgrade for $40 +. But i think that if they didn't have the car we booked for only one day... we didn't need much of what we booked. (a medium size car) they should have gave us the next car available for no extra cost. They souldnt have pushed that much for a luxury big car.

Awful. Placed a booking for a car and the price was 52$ . When I collected the car I was told to pay 69.99 for insurance. So in my mind this is 69.99 plus 52$ which is around 46€ . So 46 + 69.99 is 115.99 I got charged 142€. But of a difference in price. Not at all impressed. Just feel like I’ve been ripped off.

The worst car rental experience ever. Despite following the instructions (bringing a driving license and a Mastercard), we were not able to collect the car because the card didn’t work with their system. The staff were extremely rude and we were given no explanation and no car. Still trying to get a refund. Would avoid!

Everything about the car, the staff, the pickup and drop-off went smoothly, and I am pleased with all of it. My only gripe was that I booked this car based on a previous location for the agency, then received the confirmation email that gave that same address, a location within walking distance from my arrival and departure from the port, but after walking there, found out that the agency had moved to new installations, far from the port. I do want to express my gratitude for the staff members who called me a taxi when I dropped the car off. Good guy. But, when comparing prices, the cab fair did add another €20.

I've rented a vehicle at Europcar via your site, which I've done before. Upon arrival the lady at the Europcar counter asked me for my US creditcard. I am a Dutch citizen, which is also what I indicated when making my booking. (mandatory) Because I did not have a US creditcard I was asked to pay 830 euros extra. Due to mandatory insurances and the difference between EU creditcards and US creditcards. I've told her that I'm in their system, rented vehicles before and how on earth I can be seen/registered as a US customer and she told me it had to do with the IP address that was used when making the booking. She also told me there was nothing she could do for me as I booked via your site. Very bad experience overall and additional costs that exceeded with over 100% of the initial booking costs

The listing on Kayak promised a convertible gas Fiat. When we got to Europacat they didn’t have that - only a non-convertible electric which we could not use due to distances we needed to drive. They charged us an additional $1000 for a different car. Totally unacceptable I’ll never use Kayak again and will make sure my friends and colleagues know how unreliable your service is.

Europcar was fine, what wasn’t was the intermediary. I’ve got a car at a fee I could not use (was exclusive to American citizens) and had to pay extra on the spot to have a fully insured car.

Rented car in Madrid, Spain. Pick up was smooth - directions to Enterprise booth were excellent and dealing with the agent was easy and pleasant. Dropped off the car in Gijón, Spain after hours. Drop off was at the train station but was difficult as we didn’t know where to leave the car. Once we found out where the drop off car park was, we discovered there was no entrance apart from one that needed a code which we did not have. Fortunately someone came behind us at the entrance who knew the code as they also parked their car there so we were able to get in and leave the car. Drop box for keys was easily located inside the train station.

At pickup the car we had reserved was not available, a standard size sedan. In fact they had no sedans on the lot at all. It took an hour of haggling to get a vehicle that worked for us and not have to pay extra for it.
