The original booking took me to a location that was closed and no one was there so I had to spend another $30 on uber to go to the airport to get the hertz there and rebook the car which was also more expensive. Dropoff was a bit confusing as I was in a more remote location and the drop box was hard to find.

Buyer beware. There are of charges for every little thing. I reserved a compact car. For two days the car was not available. I called every step of the way and it was documented that I was wait for the unavailable car as to not incur additional fees. The only way I was able to get any car was having to pay a $12 a day upgrade fee that I did not agree to. . Also if you are renting a car in Miami be prepared to pay $13.99 daily for tolls. I rented from the downtown Miami Hertz. It was Hertz DT LE on 2nd Ave. Not really the best customer service very busy location I don’t recommend renting from here. I was never able to resolve my issues at this office. I had to deal with Hertz customer service. I eventually ended up renting at another location on 36th. They were so much more helpful, no surprise fees and went above and beyond to help me.

Pickup took 90 minutes. Also, the location we were supposed to pick up from was closed on Sundays. Our reservation was for a Sunday pickup. That makes no sense!! We were able to get it changed, but it added more stress and time to an already long process. They needed several more people working the counter to cut down the looooong line.

After reserving my car, taking a train from Fort Lauderdale to Miami so I could pick up a car and drive 4 hours to my flight in Orlando, then waiting an hour in line at Budget, I was told that I would need to use a credit card rather than my debit card because I "didn't pass a soft credit check." This was not apparent when I made the reservation. Missed my flight. The guy at the desk I talked to was cold and unhelpful.

Sixt charges you an extra 5$ per toll, which is completely unacceptable. Also they pushed that we purchase an extra insurance for 3rd party liability (which should come as part of the renting rate). Very disappointing. William

They did not have a car available for our reservation, sent us to another Avis, which also didn’t have anything. Ended up having to go to Sixt. However, the initial man who helped us was trying to be as helpful as possible and get us a deal with the other Avis, although in the end none of the Avis’ had anything, but I appreciate the thought/effort.

I was charged $244 for returning the car a few minutes later after 10am, while the car was given to much later after 10am. Further, I was told to return it empty, without fuel, when I picked it up in Miami, but then I was charged $118 for gas service later. So, I am very upset, like I have been fooled instead of served.

We booked a car rental in May, and confirmed a few days before our arrival on July 23. The morning we arrived in Miami Avis told us they had no car for us. They also said they tried to call me which was a lie, and when I asked to speak with a manager, he was not available. He never called back and there was no answer at the line when I called back. We were eventually able to rent a car through a different Avis location but it was a large pick up truck, which affected our plans for travel, and we were then CHARGED for not picking up the original car, which was not available. The final person who assisted us at the Miami airport was great, but I until that point I was appalled at the outcome and lack of any help in identifying another vehicle.

Hidden costs compared to the quote mentioned on Kayak Hidden costs included over $40 in taxes (federal and state), as well as a requirement to pay to protect the car despite buying car protection on kayak. The original price was quoted on kayak to be $90 and the actual price was closer to $150

I Do not have a credit card but had called prior to see if I could use a debit and they said I could with a higher deposit. However, when I got there, they said I could not use a debit for the larger van I had rented so had to have the people we were with use their card. They should have told me that when I called since they knew what vehicle I was getting.

Had to wait an hour and a half for a car. It wasn’t clean. It needed maintenance. Was charged significantly higher than the reservation. When I called Thrifty about that, they said I had to deal with it at the airport. There was a line of more than 25 people at the airport & I had a flight to catch. Horrible experience.
