Cheap Car Rentals in Honolulu

wait time to pick up car was a bit too long. Needed 1 or 2 more persons to assist with the crowd. Otherwise it was great.

I liked the easy location and the employees were friendly even though their system had gone down they were still trying to work hard and get us our vehicles but it did take longer of that, but nothing they could control.

The rental was made, unbeknownst to me, and without any indication, at an off-airport Hertz, not the one inside the airport proper, but immediately outside the fence! The representative at the off-airport trailer was helpful and professional, but I had already wasted nearly an hour in line at the on-airport location, before learning I needed to take a cab or ride share to the just-off-post location (where they washed the vehicles for both locales)! Either Hertz, or Kayak, or both, should make it clear that the rental location was indeed (just) off-airport, and indicate how to arrive there. We took a Lyft (for less than a mile).

The wait to pick up the car was literally two hours long standing in line. While it was a cheap option, my time is worth more than I saved.

Waited 2 hours to check in waited hour and half to get car Wasn’t clean

They could have cleaned the car, I found papers and spills from the last people who rented the car from the sister company. On pick ups they should have someone there to talk to you about the car and go over all the dents, scratches, maybe been offered an up grade. Services at check in was not very good, all 3 people did different check ins I heard one ask if people wanted to up grade after they heard what they were getting, would have been nice to get.

Very easy process getting the car and returning it. No surprise fees.

Car not well-maintained. Needed a mechanic. I received a new car that had been treated poorly by previous drivers; wear and tear was evident, including an unidentifiable (and somewhat alarming) hard rattle from somewhere near the rear wheels. (Suspension? Axle? Bad shocks?) I only felt comfortable in the car because I was not traveling long distance.

hour long line on pickup.. only 2 agents working.. called day 10 to extend rental ... they insisted on using the same Visa confirmation number which was used on the original rental. crazy... called our bank/visa... need to apply to same card but new confirmation... bank said "happens all the time with Thrifty".. banks not going to re-open a confirmation... just put through another.. therefore, per Thrifty in India, we had to take a day of vacation, drive to Honolulu airport Thrifty, go through hour long line to "re-do" application to achieve extension... said hell with it.. called enterprise .. unloaded golf clubs, diving equipment etc from car, hauled from parking lot to room. Took car back to Thrifty on last day of contract, turned in, then walked around the airport to Enterprise and rented a substitute car for the rest of the stay.. Still lost a half day messing around with the problem.. plus "the hassle !!!!!" all because Thrifty's software is fouled up... plus the long line cking in, plus car with high mileage, plus passenger seat had "steel" frame which tore into you leg every time getting out of the SUV. Not good... no more Thrifty..
