Cheap Flights to Armenia

Armenia overview

When is the best time to fly to Armenia?

Thanks to its tropical climate, Armenia is blessed with very warm weather broken up by periods of heavy rain. The best time to visit is from December to February as it is much drier during this time, which is ideal if you plan on visiting coffee plantations, or want to enjoy the inner-city parks. These months also fall within school term time so there's a good chance tour operators, hotels and airlines will offer cheaper rates to boost the number of visitors.

Armenia overview

Settled in the Quindío department of Colombia, surrounded by rolling hills of lush vegetation and tremendous mountain ranges, lies the capital city of Armenia. Quickly rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1999, the region is an eclectic mixture of old and new. Despite many of the lost historical monuments being replaced by modern makeshift buildings, Armenia still retains its provincial charm and is a rare treat for visitors who want to experience the hidden delights of the "miracle city".

Despite its initially metropolitan feel, Armenia has a great selection of parks to enjoy away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets. The Parque de la Vida and the Parque Fundadores are ideal places to spend an afternoon, especially if you want to have a picnic or a casual stroll. Away from this urban oasis however, the city is a key member of the 'Coffee Region'. Armenia is famous for its coffee plantations, so head to the Cafe San Alberto where you can sample this popular drink with a gorgeous panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

The Museo del Oro Quimbaya is well suited to any visitors looking for a more glamorous attraction. This museum is dedicated entirely to artefacts crafted from gold, making for an afternoon of truly spectacular viewing. If you'd like to learn a little more about Armenia's rural past, then the Panaca National Park is a must-see. Here you'll discover how the region wouldn't be what it is today without its agricultural tradition.

Getting around Armenia

Many visitors enjoy exploring the city on foot though there are several methods of public transportation to take advantage of. There is a bus terminal in the town centre with routes going across the city and beyond. Taxis are also a reliable option, though it's important you pre-agree your fee with the driver before travelling. Rental cars can often be a more convenient alternative if you want to travel outside of the city.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Those who visit Armenia will most likely fly into the El Edén International Airport (AXM). Here you'll be able to get a taxi to the city itself, but just remember to discuss the fee with your driver before leaving. You can also hire a car from one of the car rental providers inside the airport.
